Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #240 – The Road (most often) Taken
For this week’s challenge, John asks us to “think of your favorite type or style of photography as the road you’ve chosen to take most often, and not about a physical road”.
I’m not sure I have a style, but I know I react to what I see. When I travel, I try to photograph scenes that I want to remember.
“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving.” –Aaron Siskind
Landscape is my favorite photography subject. I fell in love with the beautiful landscape of Peru as we traveled through the country. I probably won’t have another chance to visit Peru, but having a photo collection like this one allows me to take a virtual tour months and years later and as many times as I want to. The image below is one of the many landscape photos that I captured on a tour bus. I recall the bus climbed up slowly for hours, I kept clicking with my iPhone.
The landscape of Ireland we saw on the cruise will stay with me forever long.
When I am not on the road, I enjoy capturing the beauty of nature in our local parks and gardens.
Finding something interesting in an ordinary place to photograp is challenging, but fun at the same time. I hope to add this challenge to my photography style. 🙂
For this week’s challenge, John encourages us to “Consider a favorite photographic style like low key/high key, monochrome, etc. Maybe a genre of photography like a preference for architecture, still life, portraiture, etc.” Click here to view John’s fabulous photos and style. Hope you’ll join us.
Thanks to Tina for last week’s challenge, Finding Peace. We enjoyed your peaceful moments and places through your beautiful photos. Next week when Sofia of Photographias will host the challenge, be sure to visit her site.
It’s true that when a place is beautiful, we all can get a shot but when there is an ordinary non-insta promoted place, then what do we find is the true test of our “eye for photography “ 😀. That said, I love the Ireland landscape very much 😀
I think this trip is going to be an adventure though we have visited big cities years ago. Hubby is trying to plan day-to-day trip and memorize each local map as google map may not work due to the wifi connections.
Photographing ordinary things and making them interesting is such a hard challenge. You’re planning to concentrate on the hardest of challenges. But why not? As these photos show, you are wonderful at landscapes and macros.
I so agree with your statement about revisiting our favorite places through our images Amy. Yours are beautiful as always. I especially loved your second image. Hard to believe you captured it from a bus!!! Terrific response to the challenge

My favorite photo is of the peaceful, beach dune with the purplish sky, but I have to say the buds brought me the biggest smile. You see, a few weeks ago when my granddaughter was here one of those poppies (that she picked at the garden store) opened. To her it was a grand celebration. Thank goodness for photography for the remembering. Very nice Amy.
Thank you for you comment, Dan! I’m glad I had a chance to share these photos with you. The sunset was captured in Thailand, which was a 2-hour driving distance from Bangkok. 🙂
Your pictures are beautiful, Amy, especially the beach scene!

You might be able to take screenshots of the maps and save them to Google Drive. You can set them to view them when offline. Maybe that would work??

That is a cool idea, Patti! Thank you. 🙂
