Lens-Artists Challenge #177 – Celebrating

It’s hard to believe December is already here, and we are into the heart of the holiday season. So, this week our theme is “Celebrating”.

For this theme, I’m sharing celebration events from several parts of the world we’ve visited at different time of the year.

“Life should not only be lived, it should be celebrated.” ~ Osho

We don’t run into parades often, but, when we do it’s always delightful. The event below was a celebration parade in Jun in Prague:

After hiking, we were back in Bolzano, Dolomites for a rest. Unexpectly, we heard music from a distance and people gathering along the main street. A few minutes later a parade started marching in.

Some exciting flag throwing led this fabulous medieval parade:

Below celebrating with music, beautiful customes, and dancing in Lima, Peru. It was late November, our last day in Peru. A wonderful way to end this fascinating trip.

The annual spring Western Heritage Parade and Cattle Drive in San Antonio is a fun event. There are old-fashioned horse carriages, sheep, horses, cattle, cowboys/cowgirls, young riders… all marching on the downtown street. It brings a lot of excitements to the city.

This year, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden created a special pumpkin village celebrating autumn with 90,000 pumpkins.

Every year, on November 1st, this tree in front of a private yard near Dallas is lit for Christmas. It takes two construction cranes, several workers, and days of work to put up over 270,000 lights on the tree.

Many thanks to Ann-Christine for her “One Image/One Story” theme. It was fun to read the stories behind your beautiful images. We hope you will join us to share your photos of the celebrations you’ve seen through your travels or at home – whether it’s a festival, birthday, anniversary, holidays, or any special day. Be sure to link your post here and to use the Lens-Artists tag so we can all find you in our WP Reader.

Next week, Tina will host LAPC #178. Stay tuned. Be sure to visit her site.
