This week, Ann-Christine leads the “Artificial Light” theme. She reminds us, Artificial light means man made light and candles do not count as artificial light.
This giant chandelier was captured in the hallway of one of the hotels in Cairo. The reflections on the ceiling was pretty dramatic.
For this theme, I include Chihly glass garden located in Seattle.
Glass is the most magical of all materials. It transmits light in a special way.
~ Dale Chihuly
The “paint with light’ technique was a different photographing experience for me. The image was captured with slow shuttle speed at around 30 seconds with a heavy duty tripod. 🙂
Many thanks to Patti for her Going Wide theme, inspiring indeed! Your photos have shown us how wide our lens can go. We had so much fun to see the world through your wide lens.
This week, Ann-Christine invites us to share “some artificial light on thing”. Her images are stunning, take a look. Please use the Lens Artists tag to help us find you.

Hi Amy
I still like both of the Chihuly pieces you’ve included. We have one at the Boston Museum of Fine art that isn’t as dynamic as yours. And speaking of dynamic, great capture of the woman who seems to be juggling light.
Here’s my offering with Mute Swans and artificial light, but not in the same photos:
Thank you for featuring the Chihuly Garden and Glass, Amy. I want to visit the garden one of these days. Your selection is wonderful and perfect for this challenge. 🙂
These images are simply marvelous as well as dramatic. Maybe I do like photos incorporating artificial light better than I thought. You’ve captured the Chihuly pieces so well — we saw a similar exhibit in Asheville, NC at Biltmore House and loved it. Thanks for inspiring me!
Great choices for the challenge, Amy. Chihuly is a wonderful artistic example. I also love the chandelier image and your perspective. I’ve never tried the paint with light technique. You got great results! Have a wonderful sunny week!
Thank you, Patti. Glad your like Chihuly’s glass artworks. The paint with light experience was an adventure for me. I thought it took more preparation work than the anything else. 🙂
Enjoy your weekend. 🙂

Hi Amy
I like your choice of expression: “paint with light’ technique. Your choice of the pieces and quote by Dale Chihuly are perfect!
Here’s my offering for this week. It features a GBH of course, but also includes two full moons with artificial lights.
