On Feb. 11, 2021, the U.S. Postal Service honors Professor Emerita Chien-Shiung Wu (1912-1997), one of the most influential nuclear physicists of the 20th century, with a commemorative Forever stamp. “Chien-Shiung Wu led a life of many firsts: the first female president of the American Physical Society, the first woman hired by Columbia Physics Department as a tenured faculty member, and the first living scientist to have an asteroid named in her honor.” — Columbia University. Wu’s awards include Wolf Prize in Physics, National Medal of Science for Physical Science, and more.
