Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #126: Subjects That Begin with the Letter A.
For this week’s theme, Patti says,”we’re going to”basics–namely, the ABC’s. We’re starting at the very beginning with the letter A.”
A is for Amsterdam, Arches, and Architecture
Arch: Cloud gate, Chicago
Architecture: Chicago
For concepts with the Letter A, I chose “approaching”.
To capture the the movements, I normally use shutter priority and continuous shooting mode. This bird knows extactly where he wants to be and is preparing for a perfect landing. 🙂
Click here to view Patti’s beautiful images of Anacapri, architecture, arches, and more. Patti invites us to “share images that feature a subject that starts with the letter A. You can also include signs and graffiti with the letter A.” She also encourages us to add images that illustrates a concept with the letter A, such as alone, abstract, or afraid.” In your post, include a link to Patti’s original post and use the Lens-Artists tag so that everyone can find your post in the WP Reader.
Oh my! I really enjoyed your choices. That “cloud gate” one is mesmerizing and the bird approach is just really…cool! I appreciate the tip – about shutter priority and how to take that kind of shot too. 🙂
Thank you! I used 1/640 shutter speed and captured the continuous actions as he was flying and approaching the spot. I have tried 1/800, a bird photographer told me that she sometimes uses 1/1600 SS.
Splendid examples of the letter A, Amy! And some familiar sights from Chicago nicely captured. I love your perspective of Roosevelt University. My youngest daughter just missed going to school there as she graduated the year before they opened the new building.
A great post, Amy, I especially like the latest, a good catch. 🙂

You’re welcome. That is a fast shutter speed! Getting the light right is always a challenge when I try for those kinds of shots.

That’s the first image I’ve seen of Chicago’s Roosevelt University; I liked the juxtaposition in form, shape, style, material, and colour. 👍🏽
