Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #107 – Winter

This week, Ann-Christine leads the winter theme.

January and part of February can be the coldest month of the year in Texas. Normally, Central Texas is between 60 and 50 F during the day and 30s at night, with occasional cold spells.

The photos below were taken in Austin in January, 2020. It was a sunny and warm weekend. Before noon, it reached to low 70 F.

Birding in February along the Gulf Coast:

We also like to visit Florida and Hawaii for a winter escape.

The Big Island of Hawaii:

Sarasota Beach, Florida:

The coldest weather I have experienced in recent years was our birding trip in Ohio in 2019. I had to put on two down Jackets borrowed from my friend; and, it was May.

We are looking forward to seeing your winter photos and stories. Be sure to visit Ann-Christine’s beautiful snow photos and make a link to her post.

We’re excited to announce that we’ll be starting August with a special Guest Host, Xenia at Tranature and Whippet Wisdom.

  2. Winters in low- to mid-latitudes are often amusing, because of mild temperatures and absence of snow. But as you would agree, I’ll definitely take Hawaii and/or southern Arizona in January to February. 😎

  3. I envy you a warmer and milder winter. We have spent the last 12 winters in Florida but with Covid we will be in Ontario this year. I am buying snow tires and lots of thermal underwear!!

  4. Your winters look warmer than our summers…Lovely choices, Amy! And it is so true that we adapt – after some time we live well with warmth or cold where we are. Love your Hawaii shots!

  5. LOL for your Ohio jackets Amy – I’m very much the same. There is no question that our blood thickness changes after several months in a single climate. I grew up in the northeast and now when I visit I simply cannot get warm. My brothers think it’s hysterical as they live there still and have a hard time dealing with our southern summers. Loved your images of frolicking in the sunshine despite the season!

  7. A cold sunny winter is fine with me, Amy. Your pics are beautiful! I visited Austin in February for work years ago, and it was very warm! I’m looking forward to my first real winter up north in a few short months, and I’ve got the apparel for it 😁
