As we announced last week, the team has a special “surprise” for July. We are hosting the theme “Seasons” for the entire month. This week, the theme is “summer”.
During the pandemic, I’ve missed the summertime that we spent in Southern California. Beaches are well-known for their warm weather throughout the year. Photos below were taken at Huntington State Beach in 2017.
“I Love how summer just wraps its arms around you like a warm blanket.” — Kellie Elmore
Some beaches are perfect for swimming and water activities like surfing, kayaking, and snorkeling.
“When the days get long, the stars shine brighter, your hair get lighter, the water gets warmer, the music gets louder, and life gets better.” — Unknown
Lady Bird Lake is a jewel of Austin, Texas. It is a great place to take a walk, kayak, ride a boat, paddle board… Actually it is more like a river than a lake. People enjoy canoeing and kayaking on a warm summer Sunday morning in the Lady Bird Lake:
Zilker Park is considered “Austin’s most-loved park”, the River that flows through the heart of Texas. The Barton Springs Pool is a happy spot for kids during summer. Hopefully life will be back to normal again soon.
We invite you to join us this week’s summer theme. As always we encourage you to use our “Lens-Artists” tag for inclusion in our WP Reader section. Using tags can significantly increase the number of readers who see and comment on your posts. For instructions on adding tags click on this link https://wordpress.com/support/posts/tags/
Many thanks to Ann-Christine for last week’s Surprise theme. Beautiful captures, as always. Thank you for sharing your creative and fun stories and photos. Have you seen these:
Hi Amy as the Southern hemisphere is experiencing winter your images are inspiring. We set of off to the sea each December holiday, so your post is letting me have a summer holiday in the middle of our winter and of course it is “the good old days” before social distancing
I’ve not been to Huntington State Beach or any of the stretch between Long Beach and San Diego, although I’ve set foot in Long Beach and San Diego. But if my short time in Santa Monica and Venice is any indication, it’s basically summer-like most of the time, which then leads me to hearing Don Henley’s “Boys of Summer” in my head, which then leads me to that music video, and all the activities year-around on southern California beaches. 😉
You are a world traveler, Henry! I’m so glad you have enjoy the Midwest and west part of US. I love the landscape of the Midwest. Santa Monica and Venice are so beautiful. I haven’t been there for a while.
Summer IS like a warm blanket (great quote) and I really like the photos you include. Warmth oozes from them – the colors too (all those bathing caps in the first one too!).
