Cee’s On the Hunt for Joy Challenge: Week 3 – Jump For Joy

This image says so much of the thrill of seeing the Pyramids at Giza in person.

Cee shares this quote with us. Ingrid Fetell Lee: “Jump for Joy: The photographer Philippe Halsman took photos of everyone who was anyone in his day, from Marilyn Monroe to Audrey Hepburn to Richard Nixon, and he always made them jump. He believed that jumping helped people drop their masks and release the joyful self inside. To get the same effect, jump on the bed, bounce on a trampoline, or do jumping jacks.”

  1. I usually frowned on such jumping shots. But this is a really really good one! The composition, the cropping, the tone, the timing. Flawless photo. Already a candidate for shot of the year. I will remember this for a long time.

    • Your compliment will stay with me for a long, long time, Jeremy.
I, too, like the composition and the tone. I’m grateful the two pyramids were in good shape.
When she walked up there, he was setting up his camera. I sensed that she was going to jump (maybe I was hoping she would), so I held my camera tightly in my hands.
I’m smiling as I’m replying. Thank you so much! 🙂

      • Not a staged shot (although it was staged by someone else and posed). Not a lucky shot. Your trained eye, your awareness and your anticipation are really commendable. Good traits of a landscape photographer and street photographer. I’m still excited, and smiling too.
