Lens-Artists Challenge #76: On Display

The colorful, glittering decorations and displays are out there now reminding us that this is the end of the year and it’s the festive season. For this week’s “On Display” theme, I have selected a few food related displays from different places to celebrate as we are approaching the holidays.

First, let us visit a couple of restaurant displays. The one below displays vases, pots, and tea pots on the wall shelves that indicate the authentic food they serve. A wonderful restaurant in Las Vegas.

The wine bottle display below is eye-catching. It’s a cool way to promote their wine.

These food models are a replica of food dishes that the restaurant serves. They are made from plastic, wax, resin or similar material. Many restaurants in Japan use them for window displays to attract customers.

I spotted the unique window display below in one of Croatia’s towns. This window display seems to let customers imagine the fun of cooking by using their food products.

Products aren’t displayed by accident, retailers use visual merchandising to help the products sell themselves. I was tempted by these well focused and colorful window displays of sweets in one of the shopping malls in Brussels. They definitely help sweets sell themselves.

Market displays are different from retail window displays. They tend to tell stories of their local products with pride. These were captured at the Pike Place Market in Seattle.
