Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #56: Seascapes and/or Lakeshore
“Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air.”

I guess this is how and why people enjoy living by or close to sea or lake. Though we are not living close to the sea, hubby and I tasted “Live in the sunshine…” We took a couple of cruise trips last year, a memorable one of which was our family reunion.
One thing I enjoyed the most was watching the ships cruising from port to port and photographing the changing seascapes in between and at the port, especially in the early morning.
In Jim Hamel’s “Top 10 Features to Bring Your Seascape Photos to Life”, his list includes piers/docks, lighthouses, sunrise and sunset, rock formations, patterns in the water, animals, powerful waves, people, reflections, and clouds. I think I have captured a few of these 10 features.
The lighthouse is always a fascinating feature. Do you know that the United States is home to more lighthouses than any other country?

The pier on the Ireland coast was long and beautiful, stretching out from the town to the sea:
On the cruise, I did not want to miss the chance of capturing sunrise/sunset. Often, hubby helped me identify the direction, by saying something like “Go to the end of the ship, NE 10 degrees …” Other times, we could watch spectacular sunrise/sunset from the balcony.
Rock formations and cliffs were scenic at the Ireland coast, to say the least.

The photos below were lucky captures in Maui. We were on a whale boat waiting for the whale to show up. The captain was stationed at 12 o’clock, whenever he spotted a movement, he’d announce “3 o’clock, 6, or 10…” As soon as we heard the announcement, we’d quickly run from one side of the boat to the other, as everyone tried to find a spot to take photos. It was exciting, fun, and chaotic at the same time.
There are approximately 50,000 lakes and small ponds in Ohio!
