Cee’s FFPC: Wildlife
Two Calves are resting in a shady and quiet place. Calves are typically born in late May through early June. I took this photo last September, am not sure they were 3 month old or a year old.
Calf is about 35 pounds (16 kg). Bull (Male) can grow to 700 pounds (315 kg) or more and Cow (female) is about 500 pounds (225 kg). Bulls aggressively guard their harems from other bulls. Sometimes, bulls wage violent battles for a harem, occasionally even fighting to the death. —Elknetworks.
Today, about one million elk live in the western United States.
