With the Mille Fiori – Italian for “a thousand flowers” -Chiholy assemble gardens of glass that include many of his series of works.
Chihuly has said that memories of his mother’s garden serve as inspiration for these “gardens of glass”.
A feast for your eyes and imagination.
The entire ceiling is covered with Chihuly’s beautiful glass works:
Once the sun sets and the lights come up inside his glass sculptures at the garden, the place really comes alive.
Most of the work is illuminated all day within the halls inside, but the glass work outside the building in the garden only lights up after dark.
You enter the a world where nature and art intermingle and dance.
Magical, indeed!
From beginning to end the Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibition balances on the extremes of what is possible in the artform of blown glass as well as expanding into the myriad ways of displaying it. Dale Chihuly was extremely hands-on in the process of building the exhibit… Knowing that, there is no doubt the art is displayed precisely to the artist’s specifications. (spaceneedle.com)
