Thursday Travel: Tent Rocks (New Mexico)
The Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument is known for its light-colored, cone-shaped ten rock. It is 5,570 feet to 6,760 feet above sea level, for foot travel only.
The rock formations are the products of volcanic eruptions that occurred 6 to 7 million years ago and over time, left pumice, ash, and tuff deposits over 1,000 feet thick, then weathering and erosion of these layers has created canyons and tent rocks.
It is 3 miles out and back hiking trail. Going though tunnels and up ledges.
