In-N-Out Burger

In-N-Out Burger has a long history. In 1948, Harry and Esther Snyder opened the first one.

It’s founded in Baldwin Park, California, in 1948 by Harry Snyder. When we were in San Francisco, Hubby decided to eat burger at the In-N-Out on our last day there. This fast food restaurant is getting very popular in many places.  We got there at around 2:30 pm, the place was packed. Hubby ordered a double cheese burger (they only serve burgers and fries) and waited for 20 minutes.

In 1976, 24-year-old Rich Snyder became the company president after his father’s death. He expanded to 93 restaurants the next 20 years. In 2005, 200th restaurant opens. In 2015, 300th restaurant opens.

Julia Child, one of the first celebrities to champion the chain, admitted to knowing every location of the restaurant between Santa Barbara and San Francisco. Child also had the burgers delivered to her during a hospital stay. Anthony Bourdain reportedly said that In-N-Out was his favorite fast food meal; later naming the restaurant as “the best restaurant in Los Angeles.” An In-N-Out food truck catered Vanity Fair’s 2012 Academy Awards after party.

I had a small piece of hubby’s hamburger, it was very good. I guess I was the only one there didn’t order a burger in the restaurant. But, I  really enjoyed the flat bread I had for dinner in another restaurant.

  2. I have never eaten at an In-N-Out, but I know devoted fans. And if Julia Child ate here, someone with the best culinary spirit of our time, then it must be great. Fun post, Amy.

  3. We have one near us in AZ. All my Midwest friends who come to visit always want to go to In and Out for lunch. I also have to say I dressed up as an In and Out worker for Halloween. Made you smile!
Thank you for the history and Julia Child liked the place. How cool is that!

Thank you for visiting! Love to hear from you...
