John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art  is the state art museum of Florida, located in Sarasota, Florida. It was established in 1927 as the legacy of Mable and John Ringling for the people of Florida.

Step outside of the entryway lobby of the Ringling Museum of Art, you’ll find that the front facade of the building gives way to two more wings on each side, in the center is a beautiful courtyard between the two wings.

The central courtyard is filled with walkways, park benches, statuary, gardens, and other works of art along with a life size replica of the Michelangelo statue of David in bronze.

John Ringling began construction of the Ringling Art Museum in 1927, to house and share with the public his large collection of European Art that he acquired. The museum has twenty-one galleries of European paintings as well as Cypriot antiquities and Asian, American, and contemporary art.

Ca’ d’Zan, the Ringlings’ mansion, and gardens are also remarkable. That will be another post.

For Jo’s Monday Walk. Jo is taking us to Salburn to see some beautiful mosaics for a fabulous walk.
