Monday Walk: Exploring Banff Lakes
Lake Minnewanka was the first lake we visited in Banff. It’s the biggest lake in Banff National Park and only 3.7 miles (6 km) from the town.
From there we drove to Lake Louise. It was a perfect day, we could not have wished for a more beautiful day to do so. We then went back to the lake two days later after our glacier adventure.
Emerald blue water with glaciers at the back, it indeed is beautiful. Because of its popularity, the lakeside and trails were crowed with tourists.
The turquoise tarn lake is surrounded by mountains and fed by the glacier. I had viewed many photos before we took the trip. When I was standing in front of this site, I was just not prepared for this breathtaking scene.
I don’t know the name of the lake below, I took a quick snap while we were driving to Lake Peyto.
Lake Peyto is ranked the 3rd best lake in Banff National Park, milky green water (glacier fed lake) as observed from high overlook:
