1 Day 1 World Project: 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm (Alaska)

Flower ed 5-5-2

Many years ago, we took our first cruise trip to Alaska. That day at around 11:30, the cruise slowly approached the Sawyer Glacier. The ship got pretty up close and stayed there over an hour, we saw the spectacular glacier calving, floating icebergs, whales, waterfalls…  It was an amazing experience.

The 1 day 1 world is such a cool idea.  As Lisa explains, “A 1 Day 1 World project designed to capture daily life moments, one hour at a time, until we reach a full day… This 12:00 pm post will remain open for new submissions until the end of Saturday, May 10th and a new post for the 1:00 pm hour will open for entries. ” For details, click here.

Thank you for stopping by! Happy Tuesday 🙂

  1. A wonderful choice for 12:00, Amy! It sounds like you had a perfect day cruising with the opportunity to see glaciers, whales, waterfalls and icebergs!! Thanks for participating in the first hour of our 1 Day 1 World project. 🙂

  2. Great photos. I went once and that was enough. Seeing part of the glacier collapse when we were there was indicated that the ships (there were quite a few ships) disturb the Artic and our presence can cause the melt down.

  4. One of my friends suggested we take an Alaska cruise this year. I don’t know why am not sold to the idea. I’ve never been on a cruise, I’ve always favored land tours although watching a landscape from a boat gives you a different perspective. Maybe, now that I see your photos.

    • We took the Norwegian Sky and had such a great time, the food, service, trips were all exceeded our expectations. We also made friends on the cruise.
But, I’m not sure the cruise lines today run the same standard as it did then. Maybe, you can flight to Alaska and do some sightseeing with the local tour guide, then take their local cruise to see the glacier.
