Xi’an and Guilin

These two photos were taken in two ancient cities in China. Xi’an is one of the birthplaces of the ancient civilization in the Yellow River Basin area. It has a history of 1,200 years as a capital of 13 dynasties including the Qin Dynasty–the first emperor of Qin ordered to link all the walls in different regions into the Great Wall. Between 206 BC and 9 AD, Xi’an became the world economic and cultural exchange center when the Silk Road was developed. Guilin is surrounded by two rivers and four lakes, 19 bridges connecting these rivers and lakes. I took the above photo while taking an evening walk along the lakeshore.
